Regional meeting and press briefing on the prevailing circumstances on NCDs and the Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDs

NCD Alliance East Africa's plan for the 2021 Global Week of Action NCDs comprise three major activities

1. A vibrant online campaign focusing on the status of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) during the COVID-19 pandemic; the Universal Health Coverage and other health issues; creating awareness around the Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDs (PLWNCDs) as well as lived experiences and stories of PLWNCDs.

2. A press briefing: this will engage media on East African Level (through our East Africa Journalists Network on NCDs) to sensitize the public about the Global week of Action and the relevancy of 2021 theme; bring the attention of media on the Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDs; as well as the status of NCDs amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

3. Conducting a virtual regional meeting to discuss the prevailing circumstances on NCDs as relevant in the COVID-19 context and the nitty-gritty of the Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDs and what it means to the East Africa region and Africa as a continent. The meeting will include key stakeholders in the region, PWLCNDS, youth Champions on NCDs, experts and advocates, representatives from the government and other partners.
