7th National Strategic High-Level Meeting on NCDs in Ghana

Today, the Ghana NCD Alliance hosted our 7th High-Level Meeting, a pivotal moment to elevate the fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Ghana and align with the global priorities for the 4th United Nations High-Level Meeting (UN HLM) on NCDs, set for September 25, 2025.

We brought together key stakeholders, government officials, health leaders, civil society, and people living with NCDs—to discuss Ghana’s response to the NCD epidemic and urge bold action. Anchored in the NCD Alliance’s advocacy priorities, our discussions focused on:
1. Accelerating Implementation: Pushing for evidence-based policies to improve health outcomes, especially for the most vulnerable.
2. Breaking Down Siloes: Integrating NCDs into Ghana’s broader health and development agendas for unified impact.
3. Mobilizing Investment: Advocating for sustainable financing to address the rising NCD burden.
4. Delivering Accountability: Committing to track and meet NCD prevention and care targets by 2030 and beyond.
5. Engaging Communities: Centering people living with NCDs in policy-making and advocacy.
Today’s meeting was a call to action for the Ghanaian government to prioritize NCDs and showcase leadership at the upcoming UN HLM. We’re committed to ensuring Ghana’s strategies align with global goals to reduce premature NCD mortality and promote mental health and well-being. NCD Alliance
