9th National Consultation on Non-Communicable Diseases and Health equity

The 9th National Consultation on NCDs and Health Equity, convened by the Healthy India Alliance on 12 September 2025 at the India International Centre, New Delhi, brought together government officials, civil society, academia, international agencies, and lived experience champions under the theme #LeadOnNCDs to leave no one behind.

The consultation launched the NCD Health Equity Report in India. Discussions focused on identifying who is left behind in NCD care—such as migrants, women, the elderly, LGBTQAI+ communities, and people with multiple conditions—and co-creating equity-focused solutions.

Key outcomes included:

  • Embedding health equity and lived experience in the National Programme on NCD Prevention and Control (NP-NCD) and the 75/25 Initiative.
  • Strengthening community-led and empathetic health systems.
  • Advancing multi-sectoral partnerships for equitable NCD prevention and care.

The consultation reaffirmed that equity is not an add-on but the foundation of NCD programmes, with a call to ensure no one is left behind in India’s NCD response.
