Alcohol and Development: A Framework to Address Alcohol as a Health and Development Problem
Alcohol and Development highlights the alcohol harm paradox and incorporates a brief overview of the findings from the latest research on alcohol and its health and social impact. It revisits the prevention triangle which emphasizes regulation, mobilisation, and education. It provides a snapshot of the global alcohol policy context and adopts a framework to analyse alcohol industry activities and how they exercise their power to influence public health policy. Moreover, it offers guidelines for civil society organisations working on preventing alcohol harm and promoting evidence-based alcohol policies. Last but not the least, it highlights case studies featuring lessons in civil society action from FORUT partners.
In this 1-hr webinar, FORUT will present the publication followed by a panel discussion where invited representatives of civil society organisations will share their comments about the publication and how they think they will use it in their work. This will be followed by a 15-min open forum.
