Healthy Philippines Alliance Signing Ceremony and Launch of the Campaign for a Food Warning Label Policy in the Philippines
In line with the Global Week for Action on NCDs (or non-communicable diseases), a movement organized by the NCD Alliance to call on world leaders to prioritize NCDs leading to the 2025 UN High Level Meeting, the Healthy Philippines Alliance (HPA) is joining forces to address the growing burden of NCDs in the Philippines. Convened by HealthJustice in 2018 through the NCD Alliance’s Our Views, Our Voices Initiative, the Alliance is formally signing a Memorandum of Understanding on October 16, 2024, outlining shared commitments to combat NCDs. The event will introduce the creation of the HPA Youth Network, which encourages youth participation in health policy development and advocacy. Overall, this initiative calls on government leaders and key stakeholders to TAKE THE LEAD and ACT ON NCDs.
As part of its inaugural advocacy efforts, the Alliance is proud to launch its “Campaign for Food Warning Labels” to tackle the issue of unhealthy diets, a leading cause of NCDs. Also on World Food Day with the theme “Right to foods for a better life and a better future”, the event will launch the “Dapat may babala para ang pagpili ay tama!” Campaign TVC that aims to raise awareness about the importance of clear food labeling, empowering Filipino consumers to make informed choices for their health and that of their families. It seeks to gather stakeholder support for a mandatory front-of-pack warning label policy, encouraging Filipinos to avoid unhealthy products and shift toward more nutritious options to prevent NCDs.
