HRIDAY at the International Type 1 Diabetes Summit 2026: Advancing Access, Equity and Action
HRIDAY contributed to the International Type 1 Diabetes Summit 2026: Advancing Access, Equity and Action, held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan from 30 July to 1 August 2026. The Summit convened policymakers, clinicians, people with lived experience, researchers, development partners and civil society representatives to advance integrated, equitable and people-centred Type 1 Diabetes care.
Dr Monika Arora, Executive Director, HRIDAY, moderated the panel discussion "Meaningful Community Engagement in Type 1 Diabetes: Connecting People, Partners and Health Systems", bringing together Dr Archana Sarda (Udaan T1D), Dr Purvi Chawla (Mumbai Diabetes Care Foundation), Ms Riddhi Modi (The Sunflower Circle) and Dr Mansi Chopra (HRIDAY). Drawing on clinical expertise, lived experience, community perspectives and public health evidence, the panel examined how meaningful community engagement and involvement, empathy and strong partnerships can strengthen health systems and improve access to quality care for children and families living with Type 1 Diabetes.
HRIDAY shared learnings from its co-created, tested and evaluated community engagement and involvement models for NCDs and Type 1 Diabetes, its capacity-building courses, and the Grassroots to Global initiative. The discussion also highlighted HRIDAY's wider Type 1 Diabetes work and the opportunities the RBSK 2.0 guidelines present for strengthening early identification, referral pathways, continuity of care and support for children and their families.
