Leading and Learning: Australia's Role in Accelerating Action on Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health

We’re in Canberra this week co-hosting an event at Parliament House with The George Institute for Global Health, contributing to discussions around the declaration for the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health and opportunities for Australian leadership locally and globally.

Joining us will be parliamentarians, senior government officials, health and development sector leaders, academia, civil society representatives, and members of the cancer and NCD community,

We’re looking forward to hearing from Dr Cary Adams, CEO, Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), on opportunities for leadership and collaboration to galvanise action on NCDs and his reflections on closing the global cancer care gap amidst a changing and funding landscape.

We are also thrilled to be hearing insights from experts from DFAT, the George Institute, The World Bank, The Australian National University, Health and Wellbeing Queensland.

NCDs are the most underfunded global health issue compared to the millions of people impacted every year. And with the shifting geopolitical climate, it will only get worse.

This is a crucial time to gather to make sure that NCDs and action are prioritised with an ambitious hashtag#HLM4 Political Declaration on NCDs and Mental Health, to maintain momentum on life-saving initiatives and keep driving change.
