In-Person Flagship Gathering—Global Think-tank on Steatotic LIver Disease

On June 5–6, the Global Think-tank on Steatotic Liver Disease1 convened a multidisciplinary group of 125 participants in Barcelona, including clinicians, patient advocates, public health experts, and industry representatives, to connect science, policy, care, and people in advancing global recognition of steatotic liver disease (SLD).

Founded in 2024, the Think-tank seeks to foster inclusive dialogue, grow a diverse community of practice, and accelerate the integration of liver health into national and global NCD agendas. For this year’s flagship meeting, focus was given to metabolic dysfunction-associated SLD (MASLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) as central components of the growing metabolic health threat. Over two days, participants explored barriers to diagnosis and care, highlighted innovative solutions and policy opportunities, and laid out a collaborative agenda for embedding liver health into non-communicable disease (NCD) strategies.
