Radio discussion to raise awareness on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer

Since its inception in 2012, World Lung Cancer Day has been observed every year on August 1. This year, Prof François Ndikumwenayo chair and founder of Burundi NCDA made lively radio conversation in national language on August 2, 2023. This conversation conducted in order to raise awareness on lung cancer issues and magnify the need for more lung cancer prevention and access to diagnosis and treatment in Africa. He was part of 1 hour of livestream conversation on the voice of America, broadcasting in Kirundi and Kinyarwanda languages for Rwanda and Burundi people.
According to Prof Francois, Medical Doctor and lung disease specialist, many people shared their stories and posed questions in their family language on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. At the end, Prof François had enjoyed contributing to push that frontier to increase awareness in lung cancer prevention and diagnosis in community, and thank the voice of America radio form this opportunity.
