Stakeholders meeting on NCDs towards UNHLM
On 3rd September 2025, the Tanzania NCD Alliance (TANCDA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), the World Health Organization (WHO), civil society partners, and People Living with NCDs (PLWNCDs), hosted important meetings at Luther House in Dar es Salaam. The meeting were designed to prepare Tanzania’s national position for the upcoming United Nations High-Level Meeting (UNHLM) on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), this was a stakeholder dialogue that brought together representatives from government, civil society, law association, patient groups, and WHO. Discussions centered on Tanzania’s progress in addressing NCDs, ongoing challenges, and the need for innovative financing, stronger primary health care, and improved coordination. The meeting involved 38 stakeholders.
The meeting was officially opened by the Director for Curative Services at the Ministry of Health, who emphasized prevention, early detection, and quality response as the three pillars of NCD action. WHO also highlighted the importance of addressing social determinants of health and integrating NCD indicators into wider health and development policies.
