More people die of cardiovascular disease (CVD) than any other condition: nearly one in three deaths worldwide every year. Yet only less than 20 countries out of 193 reviewed by the World Heart Federation in 2024 had a dedicated, valid cardiovascular health strategy in place. We know what prevents, detects and treats CVD. What's missing is action at national scale.

That’s why we're launching our Framework for A Cardiovascular Health Action Plan, a practical tool to help governments strengthen cardiovascular health within existing national health or NCD strategies, or develop dedicated plans. The Framework helps policymakers set priorities, define measurable objectives, implement evidence-based interventions, and establish the financing and monitoring mechanisms needed to deliver results.
