Following the announcement that the Third International Dialogue on Sustainable Financing for NCDs and Mental Health (IFD3), originally scheduled FOR 2-4 September in Manila, has been rescheduled for 16-18 february 2027, the NCD Alliance is clear: postponing the Dialogue must not mean postponing action on NCD financing.
Hosted by the Government of the Philippines in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the Asian Development Bank, IFD3 is an important opportunity to advance action on sustainable NCD financing. The need is urgent. NCDs remain the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, yet investment in their prevention and care continues to fall far short of what is needed. Governments cannot afford to put action on hold.
“Postponing the Dialogue cannot mean postponing action. The financing gap for NCDs is already costing lives, and the need for investment is only becoming more urgent. We now have additional time before Manila, and we must optimise it to deliver on NCD financing,” said Katie Dain, CEO, NCD Alliance.
The Global Week for Action on NCDs will go ahead as planned this September and will provide an important moment to amplify those demands and build momentum towards IFD3.
The months ahead must be used to build greater political engagement and ambition on NCD financing. We urge governments to engage actively in the lead-up to the Dialogue, come prepared to make tangible commitments, and ensure that the voices and priorities of people living with NCDs and civil society are part of that process.
For the NCD movement, this is a moment to step up, not step back. Over the coming months, the NCD Alliance and our members, partners and advocates will continue to mobilise, demonstrate what investment in NCDs can achieve, and increase pressure on leaders to turn commitments into action.
