Trans fats are the worst type of fat you can eat. It has no known nutritional benefits and there is no amount that is safe. They are a major contributor to cardiovascular disease and stroke worldwide, estimated to cause around 540,000 deaths every year. It's estimated that the global elimination of industrial trans-fat will save an estimated 17.5 million lives over the next 25 years and prevent avoidable suffering. The World Health Organization has called for global elimination of industrial trans fat by 2023 with the REPLACE initiative.
