Concrete spending targets established

 

Australia's health budget makes programmes and priorities transparent and with explicit sums allocated to them, including significant investment for NCD prevention, treatment and research. Budgets set out the funding allocated to individual programmes, making government commitments visible and allowing expenditure to be tracked.

In 2022–23, the Australian government allocated approximately US$350 million to prevention, health promotion, early detection and management of chronic conditions. At least 15 additional NCD-related initiatives received a combined average of approximately US$185 million annually.
