Optimised and coherent fiscal policies
Bermuda introduced one of the world’s highest and most comprehensive sugar taxes, covering a broad range of sugary drinks and foods. The tax was introduced at 50% in October 2018 and increased to 75% in April 2019, with the additional revenue earmarked for health promotion and disease-prevention activities. By December 2019, the tax had generated more than US$5.4 million.
