Prioritisation of data and surveillance
Ethiopia is strengthening research, surveillance, monitoring and evaluation to improve the use of data on NCDs and their risk factors. Its national NCD strategy calls for NCD indicators to be integrated into the national health information system, alongside disease registries and regular risk-factor surveillance. Ethiopia has conducted multiple WHO STEPS surveys on NCD risk factors, most recently in 2024, to inform evidence-based policy and planning.
