There is just one week to go until the 2026 Global Week for Action on NCDs, taking place from 31 August to 4 September.
This year’s campaign puts leadership in focus, calling on governments and decision-makers to turn commitments on NCDs into action through stronger implementation, sustainable financing, accountability and health systems that put people first.
Across the week, the NCD community will come together to share stories, highlight progress and show what meaningful leadership on NCDs looks like in communities around the world.
The time to lead on NCDs is now
Global health is at a turning point. Governments have made important commitments on NCDs, but those commitments now need to be translated into properly resourced national action.
The campaign is calling on leaders to:
- Implement:Turn the 2025 Political Declaration into swift, sustained and properly resourced action.
- Invest: Secure predictable public funding for NCDs by setting measurable financing targets within national strategies and maximising health taxes and other fiscal measures.
- Account: Bridge global commitments and national action to reduce the NCD burden by 2030.
- Integrate: Put NCDs at the heart of health systems and Universal Health Coverage.
Building momentum towards the Financing Dialogue
This year’s Global Week had been closely aligned with the 3rd International Dialogue on Sustainable Financing for NCDs and Mental Health (IFD3) in Manila, and now rescheduled for 16–18 February 2027.
But action on NCDs must not be delayed or postponed.
The Global Week will provide an important opportunity for the NCD community to maintain momentum on sustainable financing, demonstrate what investment in NCDs can achieve and increase pressure on leaders to turn commitments into action.
Get involved
There are plenty of ways to prepare and take part.
Civil society organisations, advocates and partners can share what NCD leadership looks like in their community, highlight an important lesson or moment of progress, or identify one action leaders should take next. Publish on your social media using the hashtag #ActOnNCDs and we will amplify on NCDA’s social media.
Campaign resources are available to help organisations participate, including ready-made social media messages, a civil society action guide, template letters for engaging governments, a media release template and advocacy resources on improving access to NCD medicines, diagnostics and medical devices.
Throughout the week, NCDA will also share new stories and perspectives from across the NCD community, including a Leadership Dialogue on fiscal policies featuring Jeremias Paul, former Unit Head, Fiscal Policies for Health at WHO, and Paula Johns, General Director of ACT Health Promotion Brazil.
The seventh series of the NCD Diaries, “Voices of Youth,” will also launch during the Global Week, sharing young advocates’ lived experiences of NCDs and their calls for leaders to act on the commitments of the 2025 Political Declaration.
One week to #ActOnNCDs
Every story shared, every conversation started and every action taken helps build the pressure and leadership needed to turn global commitments into real change for people living with NCDs.
