As the 2026 Global Week for Action on NCDs comes to a close, NCD Alliance is launching the NCD Financing Tracker: Showcasing country action to finance the NCD response – the grand finale of a week focused on leadership, and a launchpad for the road to the Third International Dialogue on Sustainable Financing for NCDs and Mental Health.
This year’s Global Week has put Leadership in Focus: From Commitments to Delivery, highlighting the need for governments to turn political commitments on NCDs and mental health into implementation, financing, accountability and measurable progress. The new tracker brings together examples of government commitments and action across four priority areas for sustainable NCD financing identified in NCDA’s financing brief.
- Establish concrete spending targets and promote health equity
- Optimise fiscal space through coherent fiscal policies
- Deploy strategic access levers to lower costs and solidify health sovereignty
- Build the foundation: invest in data and surveillance
Through a growing collection of country examples, the tracker aims to make government action more visible, highlight examples of leadership and provide evidence that can inform and strengthen advocacy.
A first snapshot — and a starting point
The tracker launches with an initial selection of country examples and is intended as a first snapshot, rather than a comprehensive global assessment.
Each country profile highlights available evidence of government action across the four financing priorities and links to the source behind the example. Where sufficient information is not yet available, this is clearly indicated rather than interpreted as evidence that a government has failed to act.
The tracker will continue to evolve as new commitments, policies and examples of implementation are identified. The NCD community is invited to submit stories of impact, evidence of government commitments and examples of actions for consideration in future updates.
From Global Week to the Financing Dialogue
The close of Global Week is not the end of this year’s campaign journey.Instead, it marks the beginning of the road to the Third International Dialogue on Sustainable Financing for NCDs and Mental Health, taking place in Manila, the Philippines, from 16–18 February 2027. The months ahead provide an opportunity to build political ambition, strengthen government engagement and maintain momentum for tangible action on NCD financing. The Dialogue will be an important checkpoint along a longer journey towards implementation and the 2027 UN High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage.
The tracker will help keep leadership in focus throughout this period, highlighting country action, making gaps more visible and providing advocates with examples they can use in engagement with governments.
Keeping leadership in focus
Global Week 2026 has created a moment to spotlight leadership, surface examples of country action and strengthen the call for governments to move from commitments to delivery.
The NCD Financing Tracker carries that momentum forward. It provides a growing picture of government action and a practical resource to support advocacy in the months ahead.
