This is a template media release designed for member organisations and partners of the NCDA to use during the Global Week for Action on NCDs in communicating with the press on the civil society concerns about a weak Political Declaration, to be adopted on 25 September at the fourth UN High Level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health.

PURPOSE OF THIS RESOURCE

• The template helps civil society groups craft press releases warning about the weaknesses of the draft UN Political Declaration on NCDs, particularly its failure to strengthen commitments to prevention, health taxes, and accountability.
• It supports advocacy during the Global Week for Action on NCDs (18–25 September 2025) and the Time to Lead campaign, spotlighting the urgent need for action, investment, and leadership on NCDs.
